Choosing The Perfect Fishing Destination

Choosing The Perfect Fishing Destination

 by: Dan Farrell

Whether you plan to saltwater or freshwater fish, you need to think about what

your priorities and what you consider the 'perfect fishing trip'. Salmon fishing in

Alaska or Bonefishing in the Florida Keys are obviously totally different in

destination, type of tackle, weather gear...etc.

One of the first things you must do to plan a great fishing trip is to identify your

priorities. You need to be more specific than just saying you want great fishing.

Great fishing may mean different things to each person in your fishing party.

One person might be happy with catching 20 fish per day, while another might be

expecting 30 fish per hour. So, you need to decide this up front.

Let's take a look at some of the most important things to consider when deciding

where to go on your fishing trip.

What type of fish do you want to catch?

While...

Monsters And Other Creatures

Monsters And Other Creatures

 by: Kenneth J. McCormick

What was it, that legend states, that was killed by two cowboys in Arizona in 1890? According to the local stories, a creature was in the desert in Arizona when a couple of cow pokes happened to come across it. At first they were frozen with fear because the creature was like nothing they had ever seen before. It was a huge creature and it could fly. It's body looked more like a snake than a bird and it had fearsome claws. The face of the creature looked like that of an alligator or crocodile and it's wings were huge. This was definitely a case of shoot first and ask what it was later. To give you an idea of the size of the creature, it is said that the wingspan was over 160 ft. I am sure that this measurement grew as the years passed as these things often do.

So why has this story flourished to this day? Could it have been because a photo was supposedly published of the monster, in the Tombstone...

Fall Foliage Scenic Drive ? Lakes and Leaves Maine

Fall Foliage Scenic Drive ? Lakes and Leaves Maine

 by: Clif Calderwood

Maine is one of the most heavily forested states in the nation, containing over 17 million acres of natural beauty, hikes, and magnificent summer and fall foliage scenic drives.

This scenic drive is through Maine backcountry. A rugged environment of thick forests and impressive mountain terrain.

The drive is magnificent in summer but not-to-be-missed in fall foliage season.

The route follows a 218-mile loop through central west Maine along the lower western shore of Moosehead Lake, and then runs parallel with the tree-lined banks of the Kennebec River. It?s best experienced over a few days rather than a one-day excursion trip, and lodging reservations are recommended during the popular fall foliage season.

Let?s get you started?

In the first part of the tour you?ll wind your way towards the town of Greenville on the southern tip of Moosehead Lake. Begin...

Skiing at Breckenridge Mountain

Skiing at Breckenridge Mountain

 by: Scott Palat

As you drive into the town of Breckenridge, you can see Breckenridge Mountain and many of the lifts. Breckenridge Mountain has four peaks and each is labeled peak 10, peak 9, peak 8 and peak 7. You can ski all four of Breckenridge's peaks in one day if you are up for a hike. The only peak accessible by lift is Peak 8.

Breckenridge has many green trails which are perfect of beginners. So do not be intimidated when you see the tops of the mountains, because you will not have to ride the lifts to the top to enjoy all the skiing that Breckenridge has to offer. If you are an intermediate skier, Breckenridge has plenty of blue and black runs that offer wide open skiing or tree skiing.

If you enjoy extreme skiing, you'll love Breckenridge Mountain! You can hike any of the four peaks and on peak 8, the lift that will take you to the top.

Mount Dora: Southern Charm in Central Florida

Mount Dora: Southern Charm in Central Florida

 by: Susanne Pacher

In my quest to find unusual destinations to visit in the Orlando area, I stumbled over a little town by the name of Mount Dora just about 45 minutes north of Orlando. I had read that it was a very picturesque small town located on a lake, and one of its main attractions was a scenic railway.

Mount Dora City Hall

Mount Dora is only 27 miles or 43 km northwest of Orlando. It has an elevation of 184 feet above Lake Dora, which makes it Florida's only "mountain top town". Indeed the rolling hillsides and winding roads are a welcome unique feature in the generally flat topography of Florida.

Mount Dora's history dates back to the 1800s. In 1846 Lake Dora was named for Dora Ann Drawdy. She and her husband homesteaded two miles south of Mount Dora. In 1880 the town?s first name was Royellou, named after the three children of Postmaster R. C. Tremain - Roy, Ella, and Louis....

Mountain Cabin Vacations

Mountain Cabin Vacations

 by: Ric Wiley

Forget a motel, forget an RV you have not had the best vacation you have ever had until you have stayed in a Mountain Cabin.

Mountain Cabin Vacation

Mountain cabins are usually found in the best locations situated in beautiful mountain settings and range from brand new to rustic charm. What more could you want from your mountain cabin.

You may be thinking rustic charm may mean old fashioned but today many mountain cabins are fully equipped with all the latest mod cons such as wonderful log fires, hot tubs, cable TV and fully equipped kitchens. One of the best features though of a mountain cabin, is unsurprisingly, the mountains. I suppose that goes without saying that you would expect mountains next to a mountain cabin, after all it seems sensible, but until you have visited some of the best places to vacation in the US you may not have been to the mountains before and boy are you missing...

Words To Live By?

Words To Live By?

 by: Steve Gillman

Watching the news the other day, it occurred to me that people who have "words to live by" often begin to attack and even kill others. I thought back to my own angry youth, when I could easily use words to justify violent thoughts which might have become violent actions. Words are tools, and yet it seems that they can be more dangerous than gunpowder.

Imagine two men facing each other, pointing past one another. One is pointing at a tornado that is coming, and the other at a raging fire headed towards them. Each sees their own truth and is angry at the sight of the other's hand. Each feels that the other's hand is "wrong." This may seem silly, but replace the tornado and fire with any modern issues, and the hands with words, and this scene describes how we often try to communicate.

We point past each other with our words, arguing as though we are looking at the same facts and experiences. We want to prove...
